Welcome to the 2012-2013 School Year!

My name is Mrs. Winter and I will be the 9th grade anatomy teacher for the school year. I'm very excited to meet each and every student. I would like to familiarize my students and parents with the technology that I plan to use during the school year. This blog will be my main source of communicating with the parents on what exactly we are learning in class and how it is being taught. I also use a lot of videos and online repetition games to teach anatomy. This subject isn't the easiest subject to learn so i'll try to make it as interactive as possible for my students. We will have hands on anatomy models in the class, lectures using Powerpoint and presentations (some by the students themselves), lots of labeling diagrams, online sites that have interactive games and quizzes, and we will also use Webquests for projects and homework over the many modules we will create.

I have recently found the ease of Google Docs to be extremely helpful. The students and I can create all kinds of documents that can be used by the entire class, or individuals. These documents all synchronize well with any kind of Microsoft Office software, which makes them lovely to use for homework assignments. Most of our Webquests will come from Google Docs. So each student will need to set up a Google account no later than the Friday of the first week of class.

Hopefully y'all (my students and the parents) will find this blog extremely helpful as to keeping tabs on your child's education. Any comments, questions, or ideas are always welcome. As I said before, I can't wait to meet all of my students for the 12-13' year! Get ready to learn Anatomy!!
